The MDS Morocco and the MDS Legendary are two distinct formats of the Marathon des Sables.
The MDS Morocco is a shortened version of the race, consisting of 3 stages (70 to 120 km), typically over 4 days. Participants are self-sufficient in food and carry all their mandatory gear. This format is designed to provide an immersion into the MDS experience while remaining more accessible, with adjustable distances.
The MDS Legendary is the full historical format of the Marathon des Sables, covering approximately 250 km over 6 stages in 11 days, in the Moroccan desert. It retains the original spirit of the race, with a long night stage and extreme conditions. This format is aimed at seasoned athletes seeking the most demanding challenge.
