Who is it for?
The Medical Patrol is aimed at general practitioners, sports medicine doctors, anesthetists, emergency physicians, rescue coordinators, nurses, first-aiders (PSE2, SUAP, DEA), holders of a diploma such as PHTLS ATLS ATCN ACLS AMLS.
My role as Medical Patrol:
Being part of the Medical Patrol means being a runner or walker like no other.
The medical teams will give you a first-aid kit, which you'll carry in your bag during the stages. So as not to overload you, you'll leave some of your MDS equipment at the bivouac in exchange.
You'll wear a special orange “Medical Patrol” bib, so that other participants can easily identify you. Your role will be to monitor and relay medical teams along the route.
Your life on the bivouac and during the race will be the same as that of the other participants, it's only during the race that you'll have your mission of surveillance, alert and first aid intervention if necessary. So you can experience the MDS at your own pace and earn your finisher's medal.
How do I become a medical patrol?
1. Follow the classic participant registration process
When you register, you'll be asked for your profession. This information will enable our teams to make their selection.
2. Our teams will get back to you according to the needs of the event.
Our teams will send you an e-mail to find out if you'd like to volunteer as a Medical Patrol.
3. If you are selected
If you accept, there is no special training before the race. You will receive an e-mail with all the different information concerning your role. You will also receive a briefing from our medical teams just before the start of the race.
